Austin Community College offers two impressive jazz ensembles and jazz combos. We’re fortunate enough to have them both! These groups are made up of top-notch student musicians, ACC faculty, and featured guests, and are led by Steven Sodders and Steve Sauerwein. A festival favorite!

The Austin Jazz Band is a diverse group of twenty professional and amateur Austin Jazz Musicians who share a love for contemporary big band music. The band was formed in 1993 by Bobby Davis, and draws musicians from the universities, the symphony, the ranks of music educators, and professional jazz and other performing groups. One of this group’s missions is to foster interest in jazz performance among all, especially young musicians in Austin-area schools.
