TCMF bands ready to ROCK all weekend!
Austin — The Eleventh Annual Texas Community Music Festival heads into the home stretch Friday night and will be going great guns all weekend at Central Market, 4001 N. Lamar.
The rains did not keep the music away, or the crowds, at TCMF11.
Wednesday night featured a fabulous and diverse program, featuring the Chaparral Dixielanders, one of the bands that has played in every single TCMF since Day 1. The evening also featured performances by Suburban Beat and four-time TCMF performers, Woot Talley + The Box.
Thursday saw more diversity, beginning with the Mancini Edition of the Austin Jazz Workshop, another original TCMF performer, along with a healthy dose of Americana from TCMF newcomers, the Stray Bullets, and the large patio crowd stayed and partied with Gumbo Ya Ya like it was still Carnival in New Orleans.
This weekend’s “home stretch” kicks off at 5:30 with the Pecan Street Brass, followed by the Inside Out Steelband and culminating at 8 with Buffalo Grass, another first time TCMF performer.
We’ll be going all weekend, rain or shine, beginning at 10:30 am Saturday with our own Ms. Kat’s Music, our first TCMF program geared specifically toward preschoolers. Bring ’em out for some music and movement, parents, and enjoy the playground before and after. Check our schedule page for the day’s events both Saturday and Sunday.
It’s going to be a great weekend of music! And don’t be surprised if the last thing you see Sunday night at TCMF is a pack of zombies…
