Lone Star Swing Syndicate brings the big band sound to TCMF, Saturday, 4-26-14

Austin — The Ninth Annual Texas Community Music Festival – arguably the best attended and performed TCMF to date – ends Sunday (today) at Central Market, 4001 North Lamar, in Austin.

The program begins at 11am with a traditional Jazz Brunch with traditional (Dixieland) jazz band La Grosse Tete, and continues throughout the day with a lineup of big bands, concert bands and swing repertoire.

TCMF presenter and founding band, Austin Civic Wind Ensemble, will be one of the day’s highlights, with more than 60 musicians on the deck. TCMF closes Sunday night at 8 with our final headliners, The Vintage 15!

if you missed us Saturday, shame on you! TCMF presented another diverse program, with the Skylarks, Trilogy clarinet quartet from Marble Falls, Lake Bottom Jazz Band, Lone Star Swing Syndicate, Dr. Steve Sodders’ ACC Stage Ensemble and Rhythm Congress, who filled the dance floor with a rendition of  everybody’s favorite Wilson Pickett tune, Mustang Sally!

The evening culminated with one of TCMF’s and ?Austin’s most accomplished World Music artists, Oliver Rajamani.
