The Texas Community Music Festival kicked off in Austin April 29, 2006, at Central Market North, and drew approximately 10,000 over the four days to the central Austin location, far exceeding expectations, and setting the stage for what has now become a Central Texas tradition.

Austin — The Eighth Annual Texas Community Music Festival kicked off Saturday at Central Market with beautiful, cool weather, large appreciative audiences and memorable performances. Opening the show, as always, was the Austin Civic Wind Ensemble, the festival host, playing a brisk set of Latin-inspired literature, followed by the Hill Country Community Band of Marble Falls, making their fifth TCMF appearance, and the first visit by solo artist Mat Tuttle.
