Candace Bellamy headlines Friday’s presentation of TCMF IX

Austin –  The Ninth Annual Texas Community Music Festivsl headed into its final weekend Friday at Central Market with an evening of blues, funk and sweet soul music.

A packed house brought the love for TCMF “co-pilot” Kathleen Brotherton, who starred in the first two sets of the night; first as lead singer and guitar for blues band Them Blue Skies, and then as guitar and flautist for Get It Good, a new jazz-funk project that made it’s second public appearance Friday night, though nobody would ever have guessed that based on the quartet’s poise and tight performance.

The mood got smoother as the evening got longer, with Friday’s headliner, Candace Bellamy, bringing it all home.  Candace, an Army physician from Fort Sam Houston, traveled from San Antonio for her third TCMF performer, and filled the beautiful evening air with a fabulous set of sweet soul music.  Again.

TCMF continues Saturday morning at 11am with The Skylarks and culminates with headliner Oliver Rajamani at 7:30pm.  Check our schedule page for Saturday’s and Sunday’s complete lineup of artists.
